This glorious Easter Weekend we packed the car, top to bottom of our camping gear, squashed in like sardines in a can ( we really need to get a bigger car) and headed a 50 minute drive along the Norfolk Coast to Hunstanton aka Sunny Hunny. Boy, whoever nicknamed it that really got it right this weekend!
2 weeks before with little hope to get anything booked this late, we were lucky enough to get a spot at a wonderful Leisure Resort called Searles , a stone's throw away from the promenade. Searles offers a wide range of Holiday homes, Caravans, Lodges and of course a Campsite. It boasts to be one of the Top 5 Holiday Parks in the Country and has a wide range of facilities to suit everyone. We paid a fantastic £168 for 3 nights with an electric hook up. This price includes use to the indoor and outdoor pool plus daytime & evening entertainment and use of shower facilities which were clean and even had a radio in!
We arrived at 1.30 and were allowed to head to our pitch and start setting up ... surrounded by private hedges, little drives and even palm trees, by 3.00, Camp Jarman was up. The camping chairs were out, the boys were on their bikes and me and dad were ready for a drink (or 2).
A Tesco sits just a 10 minute walk away from the resort which was perfect for picking up some shopping.

After having a browse round the park we headed off for an evening walk into the town for some scrummy fish & chips at Five Frying Fish, which had nice little benches outside to sit on and watch the passers by whilst taking in the sea views. A perfect way to end a busy day .. and of course a trip to the seaside isn't the same without a trip to the arcades too!

A good night sleep, bacon & mushroom rolls for brekkie and we were ready for the day ahead of us. First Stop - a dip in the outside pool. Well, dad and the boys, i just watched from my sunbed... with my eyes closed. The outdoor area consisted of a well maintained grassed area with plenty of sunbeds, a splash area for little ones and a heated outdoor pool with a slide.
Indoors, there was another pool plus an indoor splash area which made me wish i was 3 again.

Next, we headed along the promenade which leads into town, with access just behind the park. The promenade is lined with Fish & Chip vans, Icecream, Candyfloss, Tourist shops and of course a fabulous Fairground. From buzzing family activities such as Crazy Golf, Pitch-and-Putt, and a Sealife Centre, there is something for everyone.

The Town itself retains its Victorian Charm and picturesque buildings. It has its own Theatre and an array of gardens which are especially delightful during spring and summer. The land train carries visitors from Searles Leisure Resort to the Lighthouse and back again, making it very easy, and fun, to travel around Hunstanton, taking in many of the sights that the resort has to offer.
One shop which is a must to visit is Britain's Largest Joke Shop - World of Fun located on St Edmunds Terrace. It is a family run business which opened in 1978 and features many Novelty gifts, Costumes, Masks, Tricks, Inflatables and much, much more. My boys especially liked the Fake Poo and Fun Snaps which crack when you throw them on the ground! Check out their Website here - http://www.worldoffunonline.co.uk/

Early evening back at Searles we joined in with the Quiz night and watched the Queen Tribute band in the Sundowners Bar. Searles have a fantastic Entertainment Programme day and night, inside and out so whatever the weather you can be sure you will have a brilliant time. And it doesn’t have to be action-packed either. There is a Beauty Salon on site if you fancy a pamper session, A fitness Studio if you prefer to keep active, or try a spot of fishing, bowls or a round of golf. There is also a Hire Shop where you can rent out Bikes, Trikes and Pedal Karts.
Sidney's Indoor Play area is a soft play area suitable for little ones to let off some steam and the Searles Superstars are at hand for Arts and Crafts.
I would like to give a special mention to the friendly security guard in the pavillion who was extremely helpful and welcoming every single time we went in.
Sunday evening we tried out the food in Smokey Joe's, the restaurant on the resort, and we were not disappointed. A great menu of classic dishes, steak, pasta and a kids menu. Followed by some drinks in the bar next door whilst watching a live band. A perfect end to our Easter.
We had a wonderful few days at Searles and will definitely be back! If you're looking for a Family break on the Norfolk Coast this year check out the Searles Website here - https://www.searles.co.uk/
