Copenhagen might not have sprung to mind when thinking about a city break with the kids, but surprisingly it is very well catered for children of all ages. And did you know it has its own island with a beach?! Here's a round up of my top favourites for families....

Tivoli Gardens

Conveniently located in the heart of the city, Tivoli is the second oldest amusement park in the world with 39 delightful rides and rollercoasters situated in the beautiful gardens. You will not be short of things to do here! From the Aquarium to to Hans Christian Anderson fairytale tableaux, plus nightly fireworks, live music, a boating lake, and wandering peacocks.  There is even a Chinese inspired bamboo forest plus a vintage cars garden! Perfect for even the fussiest of kids!At night, thousands of colored lights create a fairy tale atmosphere that is completely unique.

The gardens are open in Winter from 1st - 24th Feb , Summer from 4th April - 22nd September & Halloween 11th October - 20th November.

Entrance is 120 DKK (approx £15) for anyone of the age of 8 and 3-7 year olds are 50 DKK (approx £6). Children under 3 years of age are free entry.

Hop On & Off Boat Tour

One of the best ways to see Copenhagen is by Hop On and Off boat tours along the canal and also gives you and the kids a chance to rest your feet without missing out on seeing some of Copenhagen's best sights. The guided tours will take you from the harbour through the idyllic canals around the stunning churches, castles and old buildings.

During the tour you will pass by : The Opera, Amalienborg Palace, The Old Stock Exchange, Christianshavn, Our Saviours Church, The Sixtus Battery, The Black Diamond, ‘BLOX’, the Little Mermaid and much, much more.

During Winter many of the boats are heated and covered but tend to stop off less during the winter so do check this before you visit.
